Exceptionally interesting are the big monasteries of Agia Triada, Tsagarolon, Gouverneto which is also known as the monastery of Saint John the Hermit, of Timiou Prodromou in Korakies and Saint John the merciful.
Near the Gouverneto monastery lies the abandoned monastery complex of Katholikou, built in the bottom of a wild gorge. In the area Profitis Ilias, there are the Eleytherios and Sofokles Venizelos Graves while Kounoupidiana is where the Technical University of Crete is located. In Kampani of Kounoupidiana you can visit the National Shooting Range of Chania and in Mouzouras the Chania Airport "Ioannis Daskalogiannis".
The municipality of Akrotiri offers many popular beaches like Kalathas, Tersanas, Stayros, Machairida, Marathi, Loutraki and Agios Onoufrios. It also offers a magnificent view of the city and the bay of Chania.
