Kalathas Village: A Paradise At Your Doorstep
Kalathas is a seaside small village located 11 km northeast of the city of Chania on the west coast of the Akrotiri Peninsula and approximately 8 km for the International Airport of Chania.
Posited on the northwestern part of the peninsula, Kalathas fascinated with an incredible landscape and a magnificent beach. Its crystal clear water boasts a mixture of colors, reflecting soft sand underneath for the fortunate vacationers and locals.
The Blue flag beach is well organized, clean, and well equipped with taverns, showers, WC, sunbeds and umbrellas, lifeguards, mini markets, etc. Nevertheless, Kalathas beach is open to north winds and the water is usually wavy. Just 300m north of the beach there is a small islet where you can go swimming.
However, when you get there you have to be very careful because there are many urchins and stepping of the rocks will be tough.
On the beach, there is a pleasant canteen serving the usual cold beer, ice coffee, and snacks at reasonable prices.
